What options for backing up the external drive. Using SATA connection. Could I just remove and copy onto another drive in my PC desktop?
If you have an external drive is the internal still used and of need to backup?

I don’t believe there are any options for a Tablo backup. I’ve read not even a disk copy will work because the Tablo may use the drive Id in its configuration.
Sadly, there is no way I know of to back up your Tablo. Even if you disconnected it and did some sort of Disk Copy, you could not then reconnect that copy to your Tablo and get it to work. The drive and the Tablo are somehow ‘paired.’
You can, however, power down your Tablo, disconnect the external drive, and plug it into a computer that can read Linux format (EXT4) and extract the video files. They are in short segments, so you need to stitch them back together. Also, there is little rhyme of reason to the file and folder names, so it can be tricky to find what you are looking for if you have a lot of recordings. Reconnect the drive to the Tablo before you power it back up.
VERY IMPORTANT: Do not make any changes on the drive if you intend to reconnect it to the Tablo. It can screw everything up.
Thanks. So for me, no BAK
I have not taken the drive out of my Tablo, so don’t know how it is configured.
But you should be abled to read the UUID from it and assign it to the new drive.
If that is all Tablo looks at, you should be good.
Steps would be:
Clone the old disk to new disk. On Linux the dd command would do it.
Change the UUID on the new drive.
Assuming the new drive is larger, you would have to expand the partition as well.
Put new drive in Tablo.
Cross fingers.
It would be really helpful if Tablo would respond so people would have the ability to expand their storage capacity.
Thanks. Linux not spoken here. Sorry should be.
