Antenna Man has done a review of the Antop AT-415B which is a similar onmi-directional antenna. Based on his results the Antop AT-400BV is a better choice for most people. The AT415 (or AT215) are really meant for RV use and are not as capable as a directional antenna for home use.
Bottom line:
Less signal strenght compared to directional antenna
Unable to get stations that a directional antenna can receive due to low gain
True omni-directional which all have the same flaw
Recommended for RV NOT home use
Directional antenna can pickup stations from many directions too
Poor VHF reception…if you have VHF in your market get a directional antenna
Yep, but the 215 and 415 are completely different, not similar.
Antop did this to themselves by renumbering certain models sold with the Soundboost signal amp instead of the Smartpass one.
400 - > 800SBS
215 - > 500SBS
etc.
I really don’t need a signal booster at all, since I am less than 11 miles from our 2000’ “twin towers”. It’s a mini 400/800 that can be mounted horizontally or vertically.
Hello…TV antenna reviews seem to be hugely variable compared to some other types of products. Never seen such a range of opinions from “piece of junk” to “best ever”. Sometimes you wonder if they’re talking about the same product. Of course there’s a huge variable regarding location and installation.
