I finally received my ClearStream® MAX-V UHF/VHF Indoor/Outdoor HDTV Antenna yesterday. A thing of beauty which pulls in signals SOOO much better than that mistake I purchased on Amazon.
However… (and there’s always a however)
I can STILL not get WTVR CBS Channel 6 signal through Tablo!
I get the signal when I’m NOT using Tablo. I’ve tested it. The signal is fantastic with the new antenna. So, is there ANYTHING I can do to try and access WTVR CBS 6 through Tablo? The only two things I can think of are to try and amplifier on the coax, but I don’t think that’s needed… or position the antenna on the roof… but like I said, I get the signal fine when it doesn’t go to the Tablo.
(As a side, I was pretty stoked to find some “free” internet channels through our LG TV. Loving the Nature channel, but even more, the Architectural Digest channel!)
Per my update, new antenna works great. I receive all channels I want wonderfully… EXCEPT when I run it through Tablo, and then the WTVR CBS Channel 6 doesn’t show up, at all. Any thoughts?
Receiving one or two channels on your TV, but not your Tablo:
The main difference between the Tablo and a traditional TV is that the Tablo has multiple tuners - so that you can watch and record multiple shows at once.
The drawback here is a small loss in DB when the signal is split. We use amplified splitting technology to mitigate for this loss, so it’s nearly negligible. In some rare cases, you could have one channel on your TV that doesn’t appear on the Tablo.
Since digital signals don’t ‘degrade’ like analog ones do, it’s typically either “on” or “off” and the difference between the two can be quite small. This can be referred to as the ‘cliff’ function, as seen in the image below. Using the tips and tweaks above can often get your reception on the right side of the cliff.
