Antenna ground really needed?

Just wondering if a inline grounding block going to coper water pipe will be good ? Is a ground going to degrade signal strength? Is it really necessary?

Indeed… Mother Nature is not kind.

One big reason for grounding antennas is to to help prevent a lightening strike. If lightening decides to strike in and around your house your grounded antenna just may help prevent damage to your electronics. All I have to say is good luck with that.

Lightening hit the neighbors house of a friend of mine. Neither house had an antenna (cable tv). The neighbors house had burn type damage but no electronics were damaged. My friend lost several electronics including his TV. We can do little to direct its path.
