When I am watching broadcast channels on a Samsung 65" QN800B TV with a 4th Gen Tablo 4-tuner, the Tablo app incorrectly renders 4x3 content, it looks vertically stretched or horizontally squeezed.
On attached screenshots, it can be easily seen:

Sorry to hear you’re running into this.
Would you contact our support team https://tablotv.com/support/#contact and then DM us your ticket number?
When I am in a Tablo TV app, the settings to change the picture size are blanked out. Also, when I use the Tablo TV and the streaming channels in a 4x3 aspect ratio, they work just fine. Only 4x3 broadcast channels have this issue.
I am experiencing the same issue with a Samsung tv. Have Tablo replied with a fix?
Yes, they acknowledged the issue and will fix it but didn’t commit to the timeframe.
Thanks without a fix the thing is junk to me!
How many true 4:3 broadcast channel do you get. Except for a few shows on antenna TV all of mine (480i) broadcast as 16:9. Of course all of my sub-channels are the major ones.
The LG and Samsung apps are the EXACT reason that Tablo needs to spend more time on the AppleTV app before it’s released.
Both apps are definitely more toward the beta side of the equation. It’s likely that Tablo released them a little early so that the very small percentage of people using the two proprietary OSes had at least something to use.
Other versions are more flushed out and these two are a work in progress. They’ve released a second verion of the LG app so we know that they’re willing to improve them and work toward a more well-defined app.
TBH, I’m impressed that they’re actually working on Tizen and webOS versions at all!
Under your logic the samsung app would have been developed and working way before the appletv app.
Roku is the leading streaming device in North America with a 50% market share as of February 2023.
Samsung holds a 21% market share.
Amazon has a 13% market share.
Apple holds a 5% market share.
LG has a 4% market share.
Vizio holds a 4% market share.
Xiaomi has a 1% market share.
Chromecast has less than 1% market share.
MXQ also has less than 1% market share.
Using Roku on the Samsung no problem
Market share and usage are two separate things. All that this shows is that people are buying a product with an OS built in. I’ve got an LG, but I use a firestick with it. And if I buy 3 other TVs with webOS it would reflect that I prefer LG over a plug-in STB. And since I have extras lying around, it’s not like I’m purchasing a new android device to reflect my distaste for a shoddy OS.
When you buy a TV, you’re likely buying it for the picture quality or its price. You can’t help what’s bundled into the TV’s system. You’re an avid Roku user. Are you saying you only buy Roku TVs?
I think you are going to find the forum full of users who own samsung and lg TV’s that want to use them to also launch apps. These users definitely don’t want to spend extra money on an STB just for apps.
Of course some of have additional requirements (AC-4, ATMOS, etc) that require an STB.
