This morning (3/14/2026) my Roku updated to Software version 15.1, The Tablo no longer works. I removed the app from Roku, re-installed the Tablo app, still does not work with Roku 15.1. What a deal … Seems like Tablo would have tested their Roku app with 15.1 and released a new version of the Tablo 4th gen app.
I’m about done with Tablo, This is the second Tablo gen 4 (4-Tuner) that I have had with in the last 8 months. The first Tablo just stopped working after only 2-3 months. The current one (2nd one) has lost recorded content that I can no longer access. This product is Beta level at best. I would go back to Tivo, but Tivo is no longer supporting general users anymore. I’m thinking a PLEX server is the way to go, Comments ?
You didn’t say which model of roku you are talking about. Even my ancient 4200 has had 15.1 without any problems for a number of months. What does “no longer works” means in relation to roku OS 15.1.
Sorry about that, should have included more info, I’m using the Roku Express. Until the update to 15.1, I was able to access the Tablo with no issue with the exception of Some content that I can no longer access (TV Show). Do you know if there has been any issue using the Roku Express ?
Thanks for the help
Steve
I’m wondering if this issue is a memory issue with the Roku. The one I have only has 32MB of memory. I’m going to try another Roku with more memory and see if that fixes the issue. One more try before giving up on the Tablo …
Thanks
Steve
I don’t think they have built a roku with less then 512MB since 2015. Once of these models
HD-only Roku streaming sticks may exhibit intermittent issues withdisplaying contentand are generally not supported. The current Roku Streaming Stick Plus (4K) (3830) is also not supported as it does not have the video codecs required for playback of over-the-air TV. Other older low-end Roku devices and those that do not support 4K (for example, the Roku Streaming Stick 3800 and Roku Express+ 3910) are also not supported.
Walmart versions are stripped down versions of the real roku model. But they do usually have an actual model number 1 off of the real roku model. And you usually can’t find any documentation on the roku WEB site.
From Tablo support: HD-only Roku streaming sticks may exhibit intermittent issues withdisplaying contentand are generally not supported.
I would guess it is the Roku Express that is the problem not the Tablo.
UpDate - I replaced the Roku Express (Walmart Brand) with 32MB of memory, with a new Roku Ultra with 2GB of memory. Still have the same issue, Tablo will start and crash. This started with the update of Roku version 15.1. I uninstalled the Tablo app, re-installed it, still have the same issue. So its not a memory issue, going from 32MB to 2GB and still have the same issue, it must be the new version of Roku 15.1. It was working fine until the update.
I’m going to rey one more thing, and thats to reset the Tablo.
I dont expect any change …
So we do have some differences, I have a Gen 4 4-Tuner with 8TB external storage. My last 4-Tuner Gen 4 stopped working after 2-3 months. My current Tablo Gen 4 only has lasted 5 months with no issues until the Roku update. You would not think there would be any difference between the 2-tuner and the 4-tuner, but maybe there is.
Thanks Zippy

Apps are usually coded to a specific version and feature set of OS API’s. When the app makes a call to a missing set of functionality it blows back to the roku menu. With the gen 4 on the fire tv stick gen 2(non-4k) it blew back since that older release of FireOS didn’t have the required API support.
Found something interesting, I decided to just try my old Gen4 4-tuner Tablo (The one I had problems with after 2-3 months), I connected it to my network, this time NO external storage, just the Tablo. After a firmware update, its working with Roku version 15.1.
Thinking back, the time this Tablo stopped working, I was at about 4TB of recorded content, this time with the new Tablo I was at about 4TB of storage. I’m wondering now if something that recorded last night tipped me over on some type of limit on storage. The Tablo web site says the Tablo will support 8TB of storage, but maybe there is a bug with large storage.
