It’s possible that the onn box had some behind the scenes updates to make things a smoother experience. Never hurts to check for updates manually, both in the Google Play Store as well as the one in Systems>About. Glad to hear that things are working well for that you and that cheap little device.
Hopefully, they’ll have that Tizen app running soon and you won’t need the extra STB hanging off of your new television!
I have two Tablo 4th gen (2 and 4 tuner) directly in router. I use 8TB WD external drive on both. I use a Chromecast with Google TV HD (not 4k). When I set them up I had no problems with playback or watching live tv (May and July this 2024). I just started watching live and dvr playbacks that would buffer only on the Chromecast. Worked on my phone fine. I went through the settings of the CC and I kept seeing 4.7GB in the corner. I decided to remove some apps (Netflix, Disney Showtime etc) that I no longer use. Then the number was 3.4GB on the chromecast. I rebooted the chromecast and worked perfectly for live or dvr content. It works like new (or I would’ve returned them to Tablo). CCwGTV HD did a firmware update as did both tablos. I watched a live NFL game…no buffering at all. My solution was removing apps from CCwGTV HD, and good as new. I hope that can help someone as it did for me. BTW first thing I removed is Netflix as I’m not a subscriber. I am buffering free, no blue circle during playback.I think this may help for any approved device but can only testify of CCwGTV HD.
