Hi all. Just got this 4th gen Tablo and I can’t set the thing up. It gets to the part to enter your zip code and then an error message pops up “Location Error: If the problem persists, contact support.” Location services enabled, tried nearby zip codes. Nothing works. Called customer service & they have no clue. Any ideas? Thanks.
I would recommend rebooting the Tablo and trying setup again.
If the reboot doesn’t do the trick, I would try a factory reset.
If neither of those work, do you have a different smartphone you could used for the setup process?
Hi @dman708,
Sorry you’re running into that.
Did rebooting resolve the issue? If not, please consider reaching out to our technical support team.
Thanks for the replies!!! Yes, l did a factory reset & app reinstall & it completed setup. Problem is now, when I do a channel scan I get 170+ channels & all come in clearly on my tv/s but none do on the Tablo app!? Is this a coax splitter situation? I thought it was the wifi that talked to the smart tv & Tablo but as soon as I disconnect the antenna from the device after setup, it says weak signal thru the app. Sorry if I’m missing something simple. Brand new to this cable cutting biz. Thank again!
The more I think about it, I’m guessing the antenna has to remain connected to the Tablo. So that means I can only watch live tv thru the app? Many times it’s much quicker & simpler to just watch live broadcast on tv, without booting up firetv, etc.& god forbid internet is down, which it is often in my area. I wonder if a coax splitter cud do both?
At least for testing purposes, I would connect the antenna directly to the Tablo and do your channel scan, then save the results. After that, check your Tablo and confirm that you can view those OTA channels. Then you can try adding a good quality splitter, possibly one with a signal amplifier, to go directly to your TVs. This is how I have mine set up and it works just fine.
In general, the Tablo is pickier about signal quality than are most TV tuners. So, if you have some iffy channels, your TV may get them, but the Tablo may not.
For me, all of the major broadcasters come in just fine. Some of the low-budget channel can be a bit iffy. But I get all the ones I want. Out of the 153 channels I receive, including the FAST channels, I have selected 42 to appear in my guide.
You must have an antenna connected to Tablo in order to receive OTA channels.
