Not sure the cause, but I need CC as I have hearing impaired family members, and I have discovered the CC on Tablo sucks at best. I sometimes get the same jibberish, sometimes nothing at all. It is hit or miss on both live and recordings, and that applies to both android devices and Roku.
In short, that is why I primarily use the HDHomerun…perfect, no, but I never have CC issues.

That’s curious. I never have problems with captions. My understanding is the the stations provide the captions, not Tablo.
Yes, they not only provide the captions, but they also provide sound and picture. But the receiver must be able to handle all aspects of the signal to display, record and replay. Go figure.
