I’m using a Clear Channel 4M antenna, Tablo 4th gen 4 ch, ethernet connection to my internet. Older Roku sticks in 2 TVs, can’t read the model numbers (sorry). The antenna is in the 3rd story attic pointing at the “towers” 35 miles away. It’s flat land north Florida on the coast.
Everything is working perfectly.
Is it me or do others get a better picture this way than streaming Sling channels?
I would have 3 TVs going if someone can tell me the Roku 3840R model works with Tablo.
Broadcasters deliver full HD content 1080i or 720p without any compression OTA. Cable, satellite, and streaming providers “groom” (compress) the streams for lower bandwidth utilization. Typically OTA video is superior to all other delivery mechanisms.
The very worst is live football games (Thursday night football) on Prime. The picture is dreadful for such high motion content.
It’s not true that OTA stations don’t compress their video. In order to fit their main channel and all their sub channels in the carrier signal, they do compress the video. Maybe not as much as streaming services do, but they are compressed.
Hell has frozen over! I found a stick that works. 3820.
Found an all dusty older model at Home Depot.
Thanks to all who replied and got me on the right track.
