Virtual channel vs broadcast channel

below is from email between me and channel 17 in Austin, TX. As you can see, even he admits about the VHF vs UHF being confussing, along with the infomercial antenna. (his name and phone number removed by me)

EDIT - a link I found http://www.dennysantennaservice.com/real_vs__virtual_channels.html

I mentioned THE antenna I have, so he knows of at least one that really works.

Thank you Bill, Yes
this entire virtual vs actual RF channel is a big consumer problem and
one for us as well. Compound that with outright lies on antenna
manufacturer packaging and it is a real problem. I often see antennas
marked as VHF/UHF but really they are UHF only and pass VHF through at a
LOSS of signal. Consumers spend real money on antennas that then don’t
work for them. rMako Communications, LLC518 Peoples StCorpus Christi, TX 78401

live near West Rundburg Blvd and Means Meadow. I have a Winegard
FL5500A indoor antenna. I can also pick up 62-1, 62-2, 62-3, 62-4 with
this antenna. With the Mohu Leaf 50, 17 was not that good and 62 didn’t
come in. I learned that 62 is broadcast on 13.
Really I think more
education for the public about virtual channel and broadcast channel,
but it only makes a difference for those OTA. I only watch Gettv and
Escape as they are English. On Oct 29, 2015 9:33 AM, wrote:Hi Bill, Luken
has postponed their Ku satellite feed shutdown for now so Retro and
REV’N will stay up until they stop feeding the satellite. 17.4 is for
lease. I have no prediction on who will lease it. Out
of curiosity – may I have your address or the nearest cross streets so I
can see what the predicted coverage is for your area and please tell me
what type of antenna you are using (indoor/outdoor large/small)? Thank you, Mako Communications, LLC518 Peoples StCorpus Christi, TX 78401 From: Bill Eastman
