Given that sometimes I access over LTE, other times over a fast network it would be useful to have the ability to either have the Tablo throttle the bit-rate based on network quality, or to have the user override the global setting for the session in progress. Given that the transcoding is real-time hardware based, this should be feasible.

Well… sounds good, but unlike popular static streamers, it’s sort of expensive to have prerolled ready to go muliple copies of content that you can use to pull of fast dyanmic changes with.
Tablo remote already has an option to allow you set the rate for when going over phone networks, etc. But it will occupy a tuner (expensive).
