Unable to select Series recording

For some stations and series The tablo cannot find upcoming airings, even though they show properly in the channel guide. So it won’t allow you to record the series. You can, however, record individual airings from the channel guide.

if you press upcoming Airings, it will show the upcoming episodes. But if you select schedule series recordings It will allow you to record new or all episodes, but the Selection doesn’t stick and scheduled it will show nothing is scheduled.

So far this has happened on the PBS NewsHour and ABC High Potential.

Just to double-check, is this on a 4th Generation Tablo or legacy? Also, what device are you viewing on, and does it happen with multiple devices?

fourth generation? Yes.
Device? Older Roku through HDMI
Multiple devices? Not tested.

I don’t believe this problem is related to the playback device.

I discovered this problem by selecting an upcoming PBS NewsHour entry in the program guide. When the screen appeared to record, I pressed series recording. When the record all or record new screen appeared, I selected record new. I repeated this process multiple times because after leaving The series record All–New Screen, I’ve discovered that it was not registering my selection. When I returned to this screen, for instance it didn’t say cancel series recording.

I Then selected series information and it correctly showed all of the upcoming episodes. However, When I selected upcoming episodes, none were shown - possibly because the series recording was never properly accepted.

I repeated this process with the same results a couple times. Finally I chose to record Just the Episode I had selected from the channel guide and then worked fine.

One other possible symptom. after finishing The above I was suffering buffering and decided to re-power the Tablo. It kept saying that it needed to operate off-line. I re-powered it again and got the same message but this time I didn’t do anything and it moved on to the home screen of the tablet.. however, the channel guide was missing completely. All other screens worked fine.

please let me know if I can help you reproduce this problem. One possible improvement would be to have a confirmation message after selecting new or all series recordings. currently, When it works successfully, there is a checkbox showing which option you selected and an additional button to cancel the series recording. When this error occurs neither one of those two things happens, but a popuo message might still be helpful..

I will also try to reproduce his problem again and report additional details in this thread.

What happens when you select Record All Episodes? PBS has a hard time telling you when there is a new episode compared to a repeat.

it didn’t matter whether I selected New or All. In both Cases, my selection never actually Registered. When it works correctly, after selecting all or new, you will see an additional button below to cancel series Recording. This additional button to cancel never appeared I don’t believe my selection was being acknowledged. And because of this the upcoming episodes to be recorded Remained blank.

I’m having same problem with the today show on NBC. I have a new Tablo. I don’t have any more than one or two shows recorded. When I select the today show from the schedule, it will only allow me to record episode and doesn’t recognize it as a series. I can record each episode in the future by going to it in the guide and selecting each one but it is not recognized as a series or even give the option to record as a series.
