Tablo recording time too long?

Hello,
Sometimes when I record a 1 hour show, Tablo records 1.5 hrs. Two hour shows are recorded for 3 hours. Most 1 hour shows are recorded for 1 hr and 5 minutes. Anyone know why sometimes it records so much more?

If it’s a season finale Tablo treats it as a live event and records exactly 1.5x’s the total length of a show.

Check your settings for extend live recordings. The current default is to extend the recording by 50% of the scheduled recording. As for the 5 minutes over, I’m not sure why it does that, but it likely safeguards overruns.

Extend live recordings feature

I understand from reading some of the other discussions, the extend live recording feature automatically extends all live recordings by 50% of the scheduled recording.  IMHO, 50% extension is excessive, and records too much extra with no way of modifying the time extended or stopping the recording manually (at least I haven't found a way to stop it).  For example, for a 3 hour football game, 1.5 additional hours are recorded, which is an excessive waste.  Moreover, this may cause conflicts with …
