Tablo Quad hardwired but still buffering

Hey all,

Bought a Tablo Quad, hooked it up to my new antenna, hardwired it to my network using Cat-6 cable, but I’m still experiencing buffering issues.

Details:

Three story Victorian house in Dorchester neighborhood in Boston.
Large directional OTA antenna installed in attic that gets 40+ channels with no issues (verified by hooking antenna directly to TV)
Have Verizon Fios piped into second floor and routers on 2nd and 3rd floor connected via coax cable to provide both WIFI and ethernet connections on those floors. Verified between 50 Mbs/sec and 250 Mbs/sec all over the house.

Have been experiencing buffering issues with LG OLED tv on 3rd floor that is also hardwired to the network. Also experiencing severe buffering on ROKU device on the 1st floor (even with dropping live stream quality down to 720).

I just testing my network speeds to the Tablo (250 Mbs) and can get sufficient speeds all over the house.

Struggling to figure out what is going on. Experiencing buffering every 10 seconds or so when it’s bad, but sometimes it works just fine. Totally lost on what to do next . . .

Does the Roku have problems streaming other services like Netflix? When it buffers watching Tablo are you seeing a spinning circle or is the video frozen or distorted?

I would unplug everything from the network except the Tablo and the device on which you are watching the Tablo stream. If the issue is resolved plug each device back in until the problem comes back.

If the problem is still there when only the Tablo and the viewing device are connected, the problem is either one of the devices , a switch or router you are passing through , or bad cables.

FWIW, I have seen my tablo buffer when it was struggling to recieve a low strength signal. That’s another possibility. Does the buffering occur when you are watching a particular channel?

Do you get buffering when watching Live TV through the Tablo? If yes, try running the Tablo with no HD attached. Of course you won’t be able to record anything, but Live TV will still work. If the buffering goes away then it could point to a HD or USB cable issue (if using a USB HD).
