Tablo Provided Content

Is the Tablo provided content (Scripps News, CNN headlines, Newmax2, etc.) down? When I try to access any of this Tablo provided content, I receive the message “A playback error occurred” and selection boxes of “Retry” and “Dismiss.”

My Ota channels play just fine, recordings from the Ota antenna play fine.

Suggestions?

Thanks!
GG

Hi @GlennG - Sorry you’re running into this.

We’re not seeing any specific issues on our end.

Can you share a few more details including:

  • Is this happening on all of the devices you use to connect to your Tablo (TV, streaming device, mobile)?
  • What devices have you tried with?
  • Are you selecting the channel ID from the far left of the grid or a specific program?
  • What happens (if anything) before you hit the error message? A spinner? Or does it kick right in?

Can you see what happens if you select the channel ID on the far left of the grid?

Info, just before this issue I was having connectivity issues on different Ota channels, long spinner, then “Unable to load channel” or something near to that message… I had to power off my Tablo in order to move it to a much better location by pulling power connector at Tablo. After powering off Tablo, pulled usb connector to 2tb WD add on, moved Tablo, reconnected usb HD, then applied power to Tablo.

Also, after this issue started, I thought (wrongly) maybe it was connectivity to Ota antenna and so turned off signal booster in Tablo settings and turned on signal booster in Ota antenna box. No joy.

To me, it has to be wifi connection to fiber modem.

Hi,
Selected channel from channel description in grid on two different channels and Also on two different devices (firetv and hisense smart TV), long spinner and “playback error occurred.”

OK. One more thing to try…

Go SETTINGS > GUIDE > UPDATE GUIDE.

Wait about 20 minutes and then try again (both by selecting a program and the channel ID).

10 - 4, will do and report Back.

Well… When I selected the white “Update Guide Now” button it grayed out for 3-4 seconds and then returned to white with no “Updating Guide Data” message or “Progress xx” meter. On 4th try meter started running and I’m now at 5% “Updating Guide Data.”

Great! Give it a bit to populate and let us know if that solves things for you.

Yawn… So after just over an hour, progress meter is at 45%…I don’t ever remember updating the guide taking this long. Sorry.

I know you said that you restarted your Tablo. Have you tried rebooting your router? If not, I would suggest powering down your Tablo, then rebooting your router. Do not power the Tablo back up until the router has fully started.

Progress meter is stuck at 99%…I have to go out for awhile but will let it alone until I return.

I happened to catch the guide update in progress, on its own, during the AM hours this morning and it completely finished on its own. Still no Tablo provided, non - Ota content.

Should I Try a hard reset with the little button on the bottom of the unit?

Also, I’m going to try the suggestion of another user, KBGxxx, and power off the Tablo, reset my fiber modem, and restart the Tablo.

Any other thoughts?

Gonna try now, thanks for taking the time and effort to make this suggestion!

If you have recording you want to save, they’ll be wiped out if you do a hard reset of the unit (5+ seconds pressing the button). A short <1 second press of the button is a reboot, which is usually preferred. Resetting also removes any troubleshooting logs that support might use, so you should usually only do a reset at their request.

Yep, just found that out, the hardway. Thanks for the heads up, though, much appreciated!

Soooo, after my tears dried, and the Tablo restarted from hard reset and modem reboot beforehand, all my videos were still present And the Tablo provided non Ota stations played! Hahaha original problem solved.

Thanks all!
