I got a replacement from Tablo about a month ago. I actually found the “re-setup” to be rather easy. It took me maybe half an hour from opening the box to get it all done.
When I first set up my Tablo I found that I had to tweak things and it oddly seemed like the Tablo needed to “break in.” With the new one, everything seemed to already be taken care of. My phone app found it pretty quickly, and then I just did a channel scan and started programming my shows. Thankfully, when I set it up the first time I had made a list of the channels that I had selected, and also of most of the shows I wanted to record.
When you say ‘tweak things’… there wasn’t any personal info or any pre entered info, right? I’m not sure I’m going to plug it in right away and didn’t want anything on there tied to me until I’m ready. Thanks for the info.
So.. an update. Just received my replacement Gen 4, looks new (shrink wrapped). Tablo told me to pitch the old one. I have to give them an “A+” for their customer service and standing behind the Gen 4 (it was in warranty, but some companies try to dodge that).
I only wish the device was as solid as their support. Honestly, I’m kinda afraid to hook it back up. I lost a lot of recordings (we binge watch mainly) and I really don’t want that result again. Have to ponder this awhile.
Yes the software, especially the User Interface. has always felt like a beta test. Now it drops offline if I breathe on it. It’s functional. Which is as generous as I would go.
Sometimes it takes almost a minute to connect to the tablo. Ridiculous.
