Tablo Exporter - Export Tablo Recordings

Worked like a champ. As you can see, I know just enough to make me dangerous! :flushed:

Glad you got it working

I am really jazzed about this app, but where do I find the ffmpeg file?

  • Running OS X 10.10.5 (14F6a) beta on iMac (Late 2013).

I double-clicked the name of the show I want to convert – not sure if that was supposed to populate the ffmpeg field for me.

Thank you.

You have to download

Ok version 0.03b is updated and available at http://jettsoft.com/products.html

Don’t forget to get the latest version of ffmpeg at https://www.ffmpeg.org/download.html

Also make sure you have the latest Java from http://www.java.com/en/

This version includes the ability to sort the shows by Date Aired.

Extract the zip file into a directory of your choosing this goes for both ffmpeg and TabloExporter.zip

You can run by double clicking on TabloExport.jar or run from a command line using java -jar (dir you put the jar)TabloExport.jar

Sorry if this is not the right place to ask for support.

  • verified I am running the latest Java
  • already had .03b (build 157) downloaded to Mac running OS X 10.10.5 (14F6a) beta
  • downloaded ffmpeg (thanks!) & save it to the same directory as TabloExport.jar
  • ran TabloExport.jar
  • highlighted the show I wanted to back-up
  • pointed ffmpeg field to ffmpeg-2.7.2.tar.bz2
  • set the Output Folder
  • kept Output Format as MP4
  • set Output Quality to Best
  • Exported … the Queue window shows Export Status = “Exporting”
  • Progress = 100% within seconds (“no way,” I thought)

Although, I don’t see an .mp4 file in the Output Folder; so, obviously I did something wrong. Advice for the n00b, please? Thank you.

You point it to the Mac executable file of ffmpeg, not the .tar.bz2 which is the zip file. Download the compiled version of ffmpeg.

For Mac use this link:
http://ffmpegmac.net/

Download the one for your system then unzip it and use the ffmpeg executable

Bare with me, please … I’m a Windows guy using a Mac. lol. Is the executable of ffmpeg one of these?

No follow my link about the mac download

SUCCESS! This app is the coolest thing ever.

Are these instructions for n00bs, like me, correct?

If so, I’ll try to make a Windows set of instructions this weekend. I have a low-spec’ed Windows 10 laptop I can use.

Can’t wait to try this when I get back home. I’m out of country half the year, which is why this is so great. I have an always on server in my house in the States to maintain and access backups and libraries of different media. It is most useful to me right now for photos and books. However, if I can export files from my Tablo to a cloud drive on my PC, say google-drive, this becomes a way to sync my Tablo content with my computer overseas and get all my recorded content anywhere in the world. COOL.

@Jestep I’m sure this has already been requested, but is there a way to have it automatically not overwrite a file and skip it or ask about it to confirm that I want to overwrite? I’d like to easily grab the new videos without having to weed through what I already have downloaded.

It is something I am looking into, all I can say for now

This is a very nice app. I have used it to archive several recordings from my Tablo and really appreciate the effort put into this. The GUI is nice as well.

I do seem to be running into something if I select the HIGHER quality setting rather than STANDARD.
The output I get from the higher setting seems to create jittery video when I try playing back on my Roku 3 device so there is something going on with those particular files that Roku is not liking.
I do run the resulting file through Handbrake using recommended settings from the ROKODING site and that seems to correct it.

Titles that I do transfer using the STANDARD setting seem to work fine.

Thanks for your continued work on this much needed tool.
Best,
Simeon

I always recommend using Standard for just this type of reason

So any real benefit to using the higher settings or does Standard basically copy what is on the Tablo?

thanks,
Simeon

Yes, it basically copies what is there, with a few tweaks.

Plex Naming standard added to this version. Or you can continue using the old way

I would like your input because I could add “Movies” and “TV Shows” automatically to the path also and that may be the right way to go, but would like to hear your feedback
