I needed to remove my 2 Tablos from wired to the network to wireless. One changed without issues. The second one refuses to connect wireless. It can’t be found by the tablo app and the blue light on it slowly flashes on and off. As soon as I connect it to the wired network it is found. I tried shutting the router on and off and that did nothing. It seems like it only wants to be wired. I have tried the quick reset and also turning the power off. Did this several times to no avail. Right now it is working wired.
So any suggestions from the experts would be appreciated. The only thing I did not try was a hard reset and I guess I could do that as a last resort and lose everything on the hard drive. Not sure that is the answer though.
If there is anything I have not thought of or considered let me know.
One is Tablo1 and the other is Tablo2 and they are 4 feet from each other. Both have attached HDs.
Not understanding the question about network PW since while there is a network PW I never got into any menu with Tablo1 where it asked for one. Not sure how I can get into a process were it even asks me which network I want to connect to and the PW unless I do a complete reset?
I switch from wired to wireless years ago, because, eventhough wired should be more reliable, it would occassionally cause issues, which quickly went away after switching to wireless.
Sometimes, things work better when they shouldn’t.
It was a simple process when I did it for the gen 4 a couple of years ago. Assuming the gen 4 has never been configured for WiFi you just unplug the gen 4, unplug the ethernet cable, apply the power and use you phone to search for the gen 4 private network SSID and connect.
Of course that’s if you phone has the feature and it’s turned on. Things may have changed in the last year or so and not necessary for the better
I had it on a wifi extender connected to the multi-port WiFi extender with an ethernet cable to make it think it was wired. The extender actually connected wireless. So it really was not connected wired.
I am not getting the private network for some reason when it does the search. I think it might think the wireless network it used in the past is still there? It isn’t since I installed a new router a month back.
Funny thing though Tablo2 worked fine after I pulled the ethernet cable. I was not locked into a static ip address may be and Tablo1 maybe locked into a bad static ip address.
I wonder if I go into the router if I can somehow do something with the one problem Tablo?
I’ll try some changes later today. What I learned so far is that Tablo should make it much easier to switch the Tablo from wired to wireless. I should in the app have an option to change it and have it search for wireless networks it can find and then for me to pick the one I want. Then of course have me sign in to it.
The current method being used it not very good or well thought out.
Have you used a different wireless network with the Tablo that isn’t connecting?
If so, your Tablo may be trying to find the old network wirelessly. If your Tablo has up-to-date firmware, it may be a good idea to let it idle for 5 minutes. This will force it to look for a new network, and you should be able to see the temporary one it’s set up on your phone.
If that fails, try contacting Tablo Support. They should be able to help.
