Stream delay from live broadcast

I’m noticing there’s a 10 second or so delay from the original antenna feed to what I see via Tablo. Is this due to the overhead in video processing by the Tablo?

I do believe that’s the bulk of it. Depending on your setup, there’s network latency aka congestion, slightly noticeable WiFi maybe. There’s also processing on your “watching” device/app, generally negligible.

But yes, transcodes the video, also starts writing/saving to disk, in turn, streams (form disk), once it starts… reading/writing isn’t an issue, it’s just establishing a buffer I understand.

Yes, Tablo creates a 10 second buffer of h.264 video before it starts streaming. It doesn’t stream the native MPEG2 video so it can’t stream immediately.
