Special USB 3 cable?

I have a Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB (STDR2000100) connected to my Tablo. This is a known good drive from the list. The micro USB 3 cable that comes with the drive is kinda short, so I bought a couple longer ones from Amazon. Neither works with the Tablo. Is there something special about the cable that came with the drive, or are the Amazon ones no good? I don’t have any other devices that take the micro USB 3 cable so I can’t test them elsewhere.

Be careful about choosing cables, as some carry power only with no data. This is done to save costs for powering devices that don’t need data.

Yes, I kinda forgot about that. I have two plugged in just to charge ipad and iphone - no data line for update.

These are definitely not supposed to be charge only cables. They could be defective.
