So, how is the content backup coming along?

I can manually get recordings merged together using different software, but I have too many recordings and all of the different ways I have tried and heard of take too much effort and time for me to work through them. I haven’t tried his tablo exporter as it seems to be geared for Linux. I have not looked at the windows version he was suppose to be doing yet, I suppose I should.

It’s a great program - works well and quick.

It is cross platform, Mac, Windows, Linux

You can select all the shows you want to export and export all at once, they will get queued up. Take a look

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. I use it on Windows 7. If you have any questions or issues I’m sure jestep will help you as he has for myself and others.

I am also very interested to see what happens when you plug back in an old drive. I think the Tablo might explode lol

Couple of things…

I just noticed my recordings are still listed as being on this new hard disk, which of course they are not. I have not been playing back recordings, only storing them away. The first hard disk started acting up so I had to reformat it. Prior to the reformat, I copied the drive contents to one of my RAID’s drives. When that same hard disk became full again, that is when I replaced it with this new drive – Just yesterday. So, even though I have all of my recordings, they are in 2 places right now. As this new hard disk begins copying (which is a bit hard to tell with tablo telling me all of my old recording are on there), I will have 1 active hard disk and 2 storage points to convert into playable content.

2nd thing…

Tried the tablo exporter and it looks like it should work quite well. Clean interface and easy setup. But, with content in different places other then just on the tablo, I wonder if there may be a way to redirect tablo exporter to look at different places on the network? If that is possible and if tablo exporter works well enough, I start building my PLEX library up with TV content.

Thanks for reminding me about Jestep’s tablo exporter.

I have never switched hard drives before so unfortunately I’m not too much help, but it sounds like the tablo must be internally storing the access to the recordings that are on the hard drive. If you switch drives and reboot the tablo can you access the recordings that should be on that particular hard drive?
