I only recently purchased my 4 tuner Tablo direct from the Tablo site. Set up and operation was relatively painless and now I never watch live tv. I get enough variety from my recorded programs. Great work “Tablo” people. It will be even handier with my IPhone

I had purchased mine via NewEgg but for some reason I could not write a review since it somehow got filed as an anonymous purchase and not associated with my newegg account… So I wrote a review on the tablotv.com site
It buffers and has macroblocking now.
Today’s the last chance to get your review and entries in.
We’re making the draw for the big prize tomorrow!
My review is quite old… some of it is no longer accurate.
Newegg, Chris C. I actually made two reviews, one was bad because I had a defective device, however, all was corrected (RMA).
Probably best OTA TV DVR today, but needs some work

Digital Video Recorder SPVR2-01-NA Wireless Interface

Pros: Allows watching and recording of
up to two simulatneous broadcast OTA shows. Works with Roku. Works via
web, iPad and Android Tablets (7" screen or higher required). Has
channel guide featuring browsing by categories like Movies, Sports, TV
Shows. Has both wired and WiFi for networking. Can watch TV and
recordings from multiple devices at the same time.
Cons: Had to reboot the Tablo (unplug, plug back in) to
get the Roku’s to see it after the Tablo channel was installed.
Documentation says you can “browse” to the Tablo channel, but there is
no such option. Maybe that works if you have more than one Tablo?
Occasionally, seems that the Roku’s can’t see the Tablo anymore and I
have to restart the Tablo (unplug and plug back in). You have to
purchase your own anteena and USB hard drive. Roku app needs some work.
No way to record what you are watching live (no record button).
Android support doesn’t include Android phones. No “TV guide” on the
Roku side.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I like the device. Clearly
there is still work that needs to be done to make this device
“complete”. I fear that in some ways they tried to dumb down very
important things (like connectivity) at the expense of the device not
working sometimes without a reboot (e.g. for the Roku). Maybe they
should have an “advanced” settings option to allow people to “make it
work” instead of depending on unreliable “voodoo” magic. It beats Aereo
in some ways and in some ways it is weaker. But still the best out
there today. Former Aereo users need to put this on their short list.
