Recordings and non-streaming channels don't play

I hope the community can help me troubleshoot this one. I’m a brand new Tablo user. I just bought a 4th Gen 4-tuner model. It works well on 3 of my 4 TVs. I have 3 Samsung and one Philips and I use Rokus on all of them. The Samsung Series 4 450 is the one I’m having the issue. I can stream non-OTA channels on it but if I try to watch local live TV or a recording I just get a black screen and no audio. However, if I fast forward a recording I can see the frames. These are the steps I’ve tried:

  • Different HDMI port
  • Different Roku
  • Move Tablo within 10’ of my Roku
My TiVo mini still works on this TV as well as all the other streaming apps on the Roku. Any suggestions? HDMI settings on the TV? Thanks!

If you feel froggy, you can take a well-performing Roku and switch it with the one that’s poor-performing to see if that affects the performance on the Samsung Series 4 450 television.

Also, what is the model number of the Roku that experiencing issues? Is the Roku wifi or Ethernet connected? It could be the Roku streamer or the network at that location.

Either compare speed tests on the Rokus or use InSSIDer on your laptop or phone to check the wifi signal strength close to the Roku devices.

I tried a Roku 2025 streaming stick HD, a 2023 Streaming Stick 4K, and a 2023 Roku Express 4K that all work on my other TVs with my Tablo. They are all Wifi.

Have you enabled Audio Compatibility in Tablo settings? https://support.tablotv.com/hc/en-us/articles/32495759693972-Enabling-Audio-Compatibility-Mode-for-Roku-on-the-4th-Generation-Tablo

That did the trick! Thank you!

Any time. This is a known issue with Roku, so Tablo made that available for Roku users.

Could be related to the server errors at Tablo. It appears to be resolved now.
