Problems with the Android app compared to the other methods

You can only pause/play live tv on the Android app. You can’t rewind or skip, really limiting the app.

2. While a show is recording, you can’t go to the recordings screen and play back the show from the beginning. It just goes to live tv and has the same limitations listed in #1, despite the interface having 20 sec rewind and 30 sec skip buttons. (once the recording is over, then everything is active again).

3. Using Chromecast via the Androud app suffers the same limitations. I really want to use my Chromecast for the Tablo, but it is way too limited.

@snowcat - We know Android needs some love which is why we’ve hired an additional Android developer. He starts next week so that should help speed up development and get the Android app where we want it to be.

No problem. I just saw someone ask about it in another forum, and I hadn’t seen it mentioned in a while here, so I wanted to make sure it was documented.

I know it may be a while, but it will be great when you can go to any device and see the same Tablo interface on all.

It’s our plan to have feature parity as much as possible across all platforms, of course accounting for the idiosyncrasies of different platforms.

That sounds great. I’m currently disappointed with the features in the android app since my goal is mostly for LiveTV.

My Android phone has better specs (except for slightly smaller resolution) than the tablet I was planning to use as a remote. Are there any plans to release an app (with lower resolution requirments) that will essentially do everything except play the video (that could be automatically chromecasted.) I usually carry my phone with me and it has higher battery capacity then my tablet.

We have two guys working solely to improve the Android app at the moment so stay tuned for some updates/improvements.

And phone-based apps are also a very popular request that we’re looking at.

I do understand that you have developers working on the

application, but, I wanted to share my experience with the Android app. When using the Tablo App on Samsung Galaxy
10.1 (Android v4.1.2), it repeatedly crashed. It also crashed when trying to
watch a Live TV show. I switched my
Galaxy Note to using Chrome Browser to access my.tablotv.com, with “request
desktop site” checked mark for a better interface with the Tablo. This method gave me a better usability
function and limited crashing of the browser. I was able to watch Live TV and
return to the guide without the guide disappearing or the browser
crashing. The Tablo web-based interface
is definitely more stable than the Droid App.

I did try uninstalling the Tablo Android App, restarting Galaxy Note, and re-installing the App, but the results were the same. It crashed when trying to watch Live TV.
