Old Apple TV HD no longer viable for Tablo apps

Warning to all: Although the Tablo apps (Legacy and 4th Gen) install on my vintage 2015 Apple TV HD box,

…they perform extremely poorly. The Legacy app has lost its connection, and no amount of app uninstall/reinstall or reboot seems to help. The 4th Gen app will connect, but only seems to be able to browse recent recordings, not the complete lists of recorded Movies, Sports, etc. Starting playback is extremely slow, and sometimes throws an error.

Meanwhile, my iOS and iPad apps work fine, as does a newer Apple TV.

The Tablo is a Legacy four-tuner with the latest firmware.

Correction: Once I power cycled the Tablo (actually pulled the plug, that is) my problems went away :-/

I’m baffled by this, given that apps running on other devices worked fine beforehand.

@TabloSupport I’m seeing a similar problem on the very newest Apple TVs as well, this time against my 4th Gen Tablo four-tuner. I can browse to the Movies and Sports lists, but when I try TV Shows the app instantly crashes.

I know this is not a problem on the Tablo side, because the iOS and Roku apps work. Also, I power cycled the Tablo just in case.

I know this is not a problem with a specific Apple TV, because I have two recent models that both behave the same.

I suppose this differs enough from my thread topic that it’s likely a separate bug, but I thought I would mention it here anyway.

Oops, TabloSupport isn’t the right account. @TabloTV please take note.

Oh: I should emphasize this has to do with browsing my library / recordings.
