New here as I'm working with support on an issue I'm having with my Tablo

I have an external drive for addtional storage.

To satisfy my own curiosity, I just recorded 3 shows while watching a 4th (on the Fire Stick) and viewing didn’t cut off on me after any of the recordings stopped. I’m running another test now to confirm. This time I have both the Fire Stick and Roku Ultra watching the same show, same channel.

So, I wonder then if you might want to do a test to see if you can record 4 programs at one time to test the 4 tuners on your device.

We’re using a Fire Stick Max 4K and Roku Ultra 4850X
FS App v1.7
FS Android OS v11.0
RK App v1.0.2
RK OS 14.5.4

UPDATE: I’m now recording the show I’m watching, too, based on the previous comments on this thread by @TabloTV.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll give that a try.

To clarify, what is described here: ‘When I select “Play Chanel” it plays one from show to the next uninterrupted. Unless I’m recording a show at the same time. Then it stops after current episode’ is expected behavior.

The live TV playback will only continue if you are not recording what you’re watching, or you’re out of available tuners. There is no option to continue live TV playback to the next show while you are recording. This is the expected functionality in these cases.

This is because once the recording process completes, the tuner is released and ends any ongoing playback on this channel. We have forwarded your feedback to our product team for consideration for future updates.

This is precisely what happened for both streaming devices when a show being simultaneously watched and recorded ended - they both went back to the Guide after the recording ended. Also, a watched show selected by channel (not program/time slot) NOT being recorded continues playing. @jlknight56 - does your device exhibit some other behavior?

I am NOT recording anything during this time. Recording is not playing a part in my issue.
I just confirmed my firmware is current, app on Roku is current, updated the channel list and updated the program guide. I’ll see if anything changes.

ISSUE RESOLVED (I think). After much troubleshooting, advice from others and a lot of trial and error, I think my issue is resolved. The following was done to resolve the issue of not being able to continuously watch one channel for an extended period. My Tablo would stop after each show requiring me to select the next show. Now, when I selece “Play Channel” is will play the same channel all day, unless a recording starts.
Here is what I did to resolve the issue:

  • Confirmed Tablo 4th Gen running latest firmware and OS
  • Confirmed Roku Ultra running latest firmware and OS
  • Multiple power cycles and resets of Tablo, Roku and TV.
  • Did a new channel scan. Found and selected over 100 channels.
  • Updated the channel guide for all channels
  • Able to play same channel all afternoon

That’s it for me. Your mileage may vary.
Thanks to all who contributed to the resolution of this issue and to Tablo Support for being patient and helpful.
