Network status display

I sort of don’t understand why the Tablo lacks a network status display. This is a pretty standard feature for any device that has a screen-based user interface and connects to a network. This kind of status display could be a big help sometimes for troubleshooting.

And of course you also need to support IPv6.

Typical display would be along these lines:

MAC address: 00-44-55-66-77-88
Connection type: wired ethernet
IP address: 192.168.113.122
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.113.1
Connection speed: 100Mbps
Duplex: full duplex
IP type: DHCP
Lease expiry: 3PM tomorrow

Or …

MAC address: 00-44-55-66-77-89
Wifi client: Tablo-77-89
Connection type: wifi
IP address: 192.168.113.122
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.113.1
Connection speed: 54 Mbps
Signal quality: 4 bars
Wifi band: 5 GHz
Channel: 134
IP type: DHCP
SSID: light5
Lease expiry: 3PM tomorrow

Honestly, we haven’t added it because for a lot of our uses this would be complete gibberish.

There have been requests from power users like you and others on this forum for more detailed diagnostics but we would have to do it in a way that wouldn’t confuse ‘Joe Public’.

That’s what the “advanced” tab is for! :grinning:

@TabloTV You should do it like the “Developer Options” settings area in Android. Click on the build number area under settings 5 times to bring up detailed network statistics.

+1 this feature request. I’m not aware of any network connected appliance that does not show it’s current network settings. Having to reverse engineer the Tablo’s IP address using a network scanner or router’s arp table is advanced.
