Legacy Tablo Quad-Cannot access recordings

Hi all,

I have a Legacy Tablo Quad and just recently can not access recordings. I use a Roku (and have for years with no issues) and have always used the Legacy app with my Roku. I performed the recent update about 2-weeks ago and had not noticed any issues until a few days ago. I can view Live TV with no problem and all other options, except “Recordings”. When I go to access the recordings, the app just boots me out, and I have to open the legacy app again. I was thinking maybe my HD was going out as it’s probably 4 years old, but I went on my PC and accessed my Tablo there. I was then able to access my recordings and viewed a few to make sure it was working, and it is! So, this is officially weird. My hunch is maybe the recent software update, or Roku app, because that’s the only things that were changed/updated recently, and would explain why it works on my PC. Anyone else having this issue or any comments?

Hi @Deano,

Are the recordings with this issue all recent or do all recordings, even those before the update, experience this problem?

I can see (and play) all recordings when accessing Tablo from my PC. Previous old ones and I verified that new ones are still being recorded as well. Just not on the app on my Rokus.

If you would, try switching off surround sound, and let us know if that helps with new shows/recordings.

I did turn off the Surround Sound setting. Issue remains.

Basics…

Power cycle router, Tablo, Roku.

Bring back up in that order. One at a time. Give significant time for each to boot fully up.

@Deano - pardon me for inquiring, but just to be clear, if the problem with the Surround Sound exists, it will always exist on those programs that were recorded before changing the setting on affected Roku devices. You will need to record something new after changing the setting to see if it works. The setting will have no effect on previously recorded content.

I believe you said you have a Legacy Tablo. I’m not sure this is the solution for that device, but @TabloTV would know better than me. I wasn’t aware of this affecting the Legacy device, but that could have changed with the latest 2.2.58 firmware update.

If you have questions about how enabling Audio Compatibility Mode will affect old and new recordings, please consult the chart below.

My problem isn’t with Surround Sound, it’s with playing recordings on the Roku app. When I go to the recordings section on “old” Tablo app, it boots me off of/out of the app. Yet, it works when I connect using my PC (not the Roku app. I can see the recordings and watch the recordings on my PC.

I have a 1st gen Quad Tablo with firmware 2.2.58
