NBC CBS ABC FOX will not load. Offshoot channels 50 mi away play no problem. Did same thing yesterday after 10 am. Multiple resets and channel guide updates done. Channel started working again after c 6 pm. Any thoughts. Antenna is outside. Antenna going bad or tunner in Tablo.
Can you bypass the Tablo and connect antenna directly to TV? You may have to go through set up on TV to get channels tuned, but that would verify it it is antenna.
Here in SW Utah it is not uncommon to lose 1 or more channels here and there. Sometimes an outage lasts an hour or 2. Sometimes it can last a week or more. It is almost always caused by technical issues on the broadcaster side. I have called stations before asking “why” and “when will you be back on the air”? Usually just get some bs unless the person you happen to get on the phone really knows whats going on.
At least in my market area, they never seem very concerned about random outages.
There was some moderate to high tropospheric ducting over Lake Ontario but it seems to be clearing up. I thought I saw you watched a specific station in that area. This could have affected your reception. Tropospheric Ducting Forecast for VHF & UHF Radio & TV

What devices are you using?
Is the problem every day? At the same time?
It’s not realistic that the subchannels are okay but the primary channel is bad. Very unusual.
In my area I’ve seen several weird combinations of virtual channel outages over the last 8 years. It’s helpful to have a list of both the RF transmitters (by RF channel) and the virtual channels broadcast on each for diagnosing outages.
Don’t assume the virtual channels are grouped logically by RF transmitter, either (eg 2.1,2.2,2.3,2.4). Often they are, but I have multiple examples in my area where there are different virtual channel groups multiplexed on the same transmitter RF channel.
RF interference or transmitter problems or reception problems (eg power outage or other complete RF signal loss) are usually going to take out one or more RF channels, which in turn will take out all of the virtual channels associated with the missing RF channels.
I do not believe RF signal issues can selectively take out virtual channels while leaving others multiplexed on the same RF channel intact. If you are truly missing a particular virtual channel while others on the same RF channel are fine, then it is very likely there is something wrong on the broadcaster side that is taking out the programming feed before it ever reaches the local broadcast tower.
Regardless, it is unlikely selective missing virtual channels are being caused directly by the Tablo tuners. If they can decode one virtual channel from an RF feed, they should be able to decode all of them from that same feed.
OP mentioned “other” channels are still coming in from 50 miles away. That implies to me the major networks are coming from other transmitter(s). It may well be those RF signal(s) are being “lost” for some reason during the day.
Rochester NY the subchannels comming in are not tied to the network channels. Receiving all 6.1…and 46.1. CBS IS 8.1 NBC 10.1 ABC 13.1 FOX 31.1 and all subs were not coming in. Have reset (not reboot) of the router and speeds have improved there. Rebooted Tablo and 3 Rokus. Antenna is mounted to dtv dish and utilizing the coax from that. Today is windy and so far all channels are working. Will see what tomorrow brings.
Check to make sure your satellite coax isn’t split by a Dish or DirecTV block, like in these photos. You want a single or spliced coax from the antenna to the Tablo. These injection blocks can wreak havoc on your signal and they should be bypassed/removed. This sounds eerily similar to the issue I explained in the linked post.
