Informal survey - Which router are y'all using?

Just replaced my Belkin N750 DB with a TP Link Archer C7.

I’m curious which router everyone else is using.

I’m using a central Apple AirPort Extreme (802.11ac with an isolated 5 Ghz network) connected to a MOCA backbone. I have 2 Airport Extreme (802.11n - older version) connected to the MOCA backbone at either edge of the house to eliminate dead zones for my non-802.11ac devices.

Apple AirPort Extreme (5th gen) – it’s been the most reliable router I have ever used and has great range – and paid only $35 for it on eBay.

There are as many routers as there are colours in a rainbow!

It would be clever to get one you can replace the firmware with an open source version.

But if the stock router does:

  • Firewall
  • Port forwarding
  • uPNP (but can be disabled if need be)
  • Can disable the one-press setup system (if it has it, its not secure)

If it has WiFi and your planning to steam Tablo or any video media then you want WiFi 300 Mbps or faster. The price goes up the faster the WiFi speed, and whether one or dual or quad channels.

This is what pops to mind first. I’m sure there are other points.

Oh, and upgrade the firmware before you set it up.

I should probably replace it but I am lazy… and unmotivated.
