Hard drive recs

I’m looking foforward a new HD and I want your suggestions. I want consistency above all else b/c I’ve had nothing but issues with my WD Elements 1TB hard drive (WDBUZG0010BBK-05). Secondly, I only need a 1-2TB drive at most. I rarely record (and keep) more than just a handful of shows at any one time. Lastly, my price point is $50-80.

One that I’m looking at is the Seagate Expansion 1TB(STEA1000400). Does anyone have experience with that model?

Segates’s quality is “dubious” IMHO. I’ve been using Hitachi (now WD) HGST Touro 1TB (the slower ones) for years. Very reliable.

I have an older WD Elements 1TB hard drive (WDBUZG0010BBK-03). It was very unreliable, but I read on this forum about how to update the firmware, and ever since then it has been solid as Gibraltar.

Maybe there is a firmware update for your drive?

That might be true for the 1 TB drive, but I (and others) have the Seagate Expansion 5 TB disk and it is flawless. @TabloTV uses the Seagate Expansion 8 TB model without problems. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00JT0EGPW?pc_redir=T1 but it is around $165.

and the newer model Seagate Expansion 5TB disk has been flawless for me in the several months I’ve been using it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TKFEEBW
