I keep my Tablo in the basement. It sits on a little table on which I’ve drilled 20 or so holes for airflow through the table top Then I placed the Tablo on four small 1 inch tall legs I cut from PVC pipe (1.5 inch diameter) - placing it just above the holes on the table top. Even these PVC legs have holes drilled in their sides so hot air doesn’t get stuck inside them. So far so good keeping the Tablo ventilated.
That is quite the dedicated “keeping it cool” set up!!
I bought this when someone here first posted. Never had a problem with heat, but wanted to keep cool as ambient air would allow for component life. Works just fine and can’t even hear it with the nice big and slow fan on it. tablo box is at most a couple degrees warmer then my skin. Just buy it and use it if you have heat related concerns.

@Radojevic, great info.
I put my Tablo on top of a “laptop cooler” (though I don’t typically have the fan running).
Ventilation is definitely important for the Tablo (and attached hard drive).
Mine is type without vents. Originally, I put upside down, as the bottom heats higher than the top in any orientation. I switched yesterday to the vertical side orientation. Thinking about attaching a heat sink to hot bottom. Not sure how without being permanent.
Might attempt a fan on heating with transformer or long USB cord from computer. Not a fan of active cooling due to power supply issues and electric use.
