Extend live recordings feature

I understand from reading some of the other discussions, the extend live recording feature automatically extends all live recordings by 50% of the scheduled recording.  IMHO, 50% extension is excessive, and records too much extra with no way of modifying the time extended or stopping the recording manually (at least I haven’t found a way to stop it).  For example, for a 3 hour football game, 1.5 additional hours are recorded, which is an excessive waste.  Moreover, this may cause conflicts with other recordings.

Based on my experience with another DVR (Verizon FIOS), I suggest a feature set similar to this DVR.  The time extension should prompt the user for the amount of time to extend desired at the time of scheduling a recording.  This DVR provides 5, 10, 15, 20, etc…60, 120 minute extension options at the time a recording is scheduled.

For example, based on my experience if I’m scheduling a college football game, I typically schedule 1 additional hour since college football broadcasting starts late and typically never ends on the scheduled time even for games that finish without overtime.  For NFL games, I typically extend by 30 minutes.  However, I noticed the Tablo extends the time for  live shows such as American Idol or The Voice I don’t want to extend at all since they never exceed the allotted broadcast time despite the fact they are live.

Good idea - I assume you have a dual tuner Tablo though if you are running into recording conflicts?

@jayroessler - You can always opt to create a manual recording in this case although that is a great suggestion for a feature.

@TabloTV Why pay for the EPG if your solution is manual recordings?  A FREE TV schedule can be created at Titantv.  Just add it to the never ending wish list.

@theuser86 - I have a 4 tuner, but my Verizon was a 2 tuner.  I’m hoping the 4 tuner alleviates many conflict issues.

@TabloTV - As for the manual recording, that is an option, but not as convenient.  I definitely would prefer the suggested feature enhancement over manual recording.

Duly noted!

TitanTV has reliable listings when I view from my Windows Desktop., but is unreliable as an android mobile app.  Had to use the TV Guide mobile app for the last week as Titan consistently failed to load.

I use the mobile for other operating systems.  The problem MUST BE the app.  I didn’t know there was an android mobile app.  I just use the http://m.titantv.com/login/?ReturnUrl=%2FDefault.aspx

It does require that you register for a FREE account though.  I then save the shortcut to a screen.
