Just what we needed… another thread about commercial skip. Well, I don’t see this covered anywhere else, so I’ll dive in.
I’ve noticed an issue with commercial skip not being processed (“upload failed” message) when a lot of recording activity is going on. This is on the classic 4-tuner Tablo w/2.2.26. If I recall correctly, commercial skip requires an available tuner, and there should have been at least one tuner available at the time. Since there might have been more than one completed recording to process, I can imagine that some of the shows might not have a tuner available for commercial skip in a timely manner. However, it looks like none of the shows get commercial skip processing.
Unsurprisingly, thumbnails aren’t always available, either. Alas, I had to restart my Tablo and (if I recall correctly) that will trigger thumbnail production but not commercial skip scan. So I don’t know the extent of missing thumbnails. Despite the “upload failed” message, there’s no reason this should be a networking issue – it’s always for the same cluster of shows on the same night – so I’m assuming it’s an issue with tuner availability.
Is there a simple way to sort out what’s going on, or do I just shrug my shoulders and figure that’s what I get for recording too many shows at once?
