Never seen it recover. It usually gets stuck in a loop of restarting from the beginning if you hit any button.
Oh and the Chromecast is 1st Gen
To be honest Iām not concerned about it working with low bitrates. Itās stated to work with chromecast not only work at low settings. Well⦠unless you go searching for that one blog that @TabloSupport pointed out. rolls eyes
Oh, I have had that experience when playing recording that was not yet complete. I have not usually experienced that for fully recorded shows. For instance If I record a football game and pick up half way through to speed past commercials it will start to do that. - one scenario anyway.
So youāre saying you want me to try and cast something at 1080?
@foxvalleyal
Yup! Havenāt seen a single person that can do it. But support says this is only affecting a few people.
Roger that. Let me dish something up on 1080. Might take me a few.
Put me on that list. Message: Unfortunately, Tablo has stopped. Report Ok
No, itās not Ok!
That was about 20 mins recorded 8Mbps 1080i of the Nap (Golf) Channel.
@foxvalleyal
As Tablo Support told me:
Again I find it funny I canāt find any one who can cast at the normal 8Mbps, but this is the story theyāre spinning.
Or⦠saying to lower your settings so we donāt have to fix it.
And the wheel when itās trying to stream before it crashes. Just add it to the list. I canāt record my most watched Channel because I think the Tuners arenāt locking in enough on the Channel (see my ClearStream Juice Amplifier Post). I bought another amplifier thinking that would do the trick. Nope. I can watch the Channel from Antenna to Amplifier to TV just fine. Not to change the subject but I donāt think people are supposed to throw hardware at this thing to make it work. Like I stated in my ClearStream Post, if I would have started building everything from scratch starting with the Tablo, I would build the perfect beast but Iām certainly not going to do that now.
My thoughts exactly. Its just part of a much larger system in my house. Didnāt buy it to make me bend over backwards to serve the Tablo!
We just bought one of these at work. I wonder if the Tablo will fit in it?

ROFL
Iām still in the return window time frame with Amazon myself. On the fence about it. The support is whatās pushing me to return it the most. Also a few people on the forums that are just plain rude that seems to be acceptable to Tablo. The $5 sub just to record series isnāt flying with me either. If I used the features on the Tablo I could see it but since I am moving things off of it right after they record⦠that becomes BS. The features that do work work really really well. Not to mention itās a nice little closed system that I donāt really have to mess with, well in theory at least.
So⦠I donāt know. lol
I do. Iām almost at 60 days and Iām sure all the begging in the world to Amazon isnāt going to bring me a refund. I bought this with the idea of running everything off it. I liked that concept, unfortunately thatās all it turned out to be. Live experience is bad and recording is a problem at least what Iām trying to record. Before I pulled the trigger on this I was on the fence with this or Channel Master. This had more Tuners and features but it didnāt turn out well for me. My co-worker gave me his Roamio and all I had to do was spend $6 for the power adapter he lost and of course the BS monthly subscription but I refused to pay that or the ridiculous $599 for lifetime. However, since they came out with the new OTA 1TB DVR with lifetime for $399 they leveled the playing field a little more. As the Sharks would say, thereās just too many issues and for that reason, I"M OUT.
Totally understandable to me. Itās not what I signed up for when I bought it either. All these subs for just a tv guide⦠kills me. You can get that for free online. If I wanted a sub, Iād have cable. :-p
Yeah, it doesnāt seem like that is something you should have to pay for. I have a limited Guide on OTA that gives me like 24hrs. Knowing what I know now, Channel Master was the clear choice. Itās kinda clunky but everything I read it works well. I could live without it in every room. I have Plex running and Rokus on the other TVs for other content. Thereās going to be more DVRs introduced probably in the next year or so.
Oh, and donāt forget to leave that stellar review on Amazon.
At this point Iāll be one of them 1 star reviews.
Wow, this reads like my other threads i started about a month and a half ago.
Support - iffy
Subs - possibly
Not working as promised - a big hell yeah!
Having to work around the system to get your content - Priceless!
After reading quite a lot of posts that go like this⦠Iām rather happy I can still return this thing. Just wish I knew how hard itās going to be to set up recordings āmanuallyā with no sub. Cuz paying a sub on this really doesnāt make sense to me in this state. Sadly the free month expires after my return window.
