Can you believe the Tablo has been around 8 years?

While beta testers had Tablos earlier, the first batch of production 2-tuner Tablos were delivered in April 2014. I imagine a lot of those original owners are still on this site (like me) :).

When subscriptions were first offered (I think in 2015), we gambled on whether the Tablo would be around at least 3 years to at least break even on a lifetime sub. It certainly has paid off in the long run.

Throughout the years, Nuvyyo has had multiple firmware updates per year, many new devices, and great forums and tech support. While they certainly haven’t added all our feature requests, they have added a whole lot of them in this span. I also love that those that bought the first Tablos can still use them today with all the same features as the newest ones (that doesn’t happen a whole lot with tech).

For those new here, I don’t work for Nuvyyo. They just were the catalyst for me to be a cord cutter 8 years ago, and I am still a big fan. And most of you in this community are big fans like me (but also willing to be critical when needed), and it makes this community a great place to visit everyday.

Thanks for 8 great years, and I hope it doesn’t stop anytime soon.

Right there with you, bought the device and a lifetime subscription and then hoped it last 3 to 4 years, and here we are. I bought it so long ago I considered simple.tv which seems like a bullet dodged in hindsight.

I have a Simple.tv ‘lifetime’ subscription I’d sell! :grinning:

While I haven’t been here quite as long as you @snowcat , I bought my first 4-tuner Tablo in May of 2015, I agree with the points you brought up. Tablo isn’t perfect, but it fulfilled my needs when I first purchased it and still does today. My first Tablo is nearly 7 years old and works better than the day I purchased it because of Tablos unending support of the product with continuous firmware updates.

I’m looking forward to the next generation of Tablo products, primarily the Tablo HDMI ATSC 3.0. I have one ordered and can’t wait to receive it and see what is coming with Next-gen TV. As with the original Tablos, I do expect there to be some hiccups along the way due to the new standard, but I also expect Tablo to work through any problems and continue to make a great products.

Happy recovering Dish Network subscriber and Tablo owner for the last 7 years. Don’t miss the $130/month TV access charges.

It’s been an amazing 8 years. I was on the waiting list for the 4-tuner back in the day… and grabbed it as soon as it was available. We don’t actually watch loads of broadcast TV in this house - kids are addicted to Netflix and my wife is a huge fan of CrunchyRoll… but I pick up a series of sports and or movies for my own enjoyment and sometimes take them on the go via that super-awesome-better-than-sliced-bread ota2go lol

Tablo, you’ve made a terrific product with terrific longevity that is super user friendly. Congrats and thumbs up to you all!

I feel like a newbie, having only been a Tablo owner and happy customer since November 2017. I agree with all the comments. Tablo is not perfect and can’t possibly satisfy everyone’s feature requests but they do stand behind their product and try do the best for their customers.

I’ve had my 4-tuner Tablo since January 2016 and have been super happy with it. It has been a great investment.
After seeing my Tablo in operation, a couple of friends have even bought their own Tablo units.

These days everyone is so indoctrinated with cable TV that they don’t know what’s being broadcast OTA. It’s been great fun to see how surprised people get when they realize all the programming you can get for free, with just an antenna!

It’s been amazing to watch the improvements over the years… the thumbnails that allowed you to easily fast forward through commercials, the full program grid in particular. Tablo is what finally pushed me over the edge when I was deciding whether to cut the cord and ditch DirecTV after 19 years as a “loyal subscriber.” It may not be perfect, but it’s probably the best OTA DVR out there.

Thanks for all the kind comments folks!

A lot of our core team has been around since the early days and it’s been very satisfying to watch the product evolve and our awesome customer base grow.

While we wish we could make everyone’s feature wish lists come true we think we’ve added some pretty cool stuff over the years and we have even more in store.

Thanks again everyone for your feedback, your word-of-mouth recommendations, and your ongoing support.

I’m a bit of a newbie compared to some but I was surprised to realize I will have had mine for four years this fall. I’ve seen a lot of software bugs squashed by the Tablo team. I’m planning for the demise of my hard drive at this stage since our Tablo gets a LOT of use.

Our Tablo records multiple shows every day and most are deleted after viewing. It is seven years old and the 1tb hard drive is several years older than that. Neither are showing any signs of giving up. :slightly_smiling_face:

That’s longer then I would expect! I’m experiencing some issues right now I believe might be HD related. Weird stuff like the newsman developing a demonic voice only to sound like Mickey Mouse a little later.

You deserve our thanks for a great product. Sadly, however like so many other companies your front line people, support reps, can make or break you.

As a Tablo owner and happy customer of only two months, I feel like a newbie having only been a Tablo owner and happy customer for one month. I agree with all of your comments. In the end, Tablo is not perfect and can not possibly satisfy all users’ feature requests, but they do stand behind their product and make sure that they do the best for their customers.
