Went to play back the Today show on the Tablo Roku app which was still recording. Started fine but after about 5 minutes, the audio raced ahead of the video by almost 30 seconds. Restarted Roku and tried again with the same result. Tried on my iPad Tablo app and could not stream the recording at all. Reset the Tablo and all the same behavior. This is a 4 tuner new gen version with a 2 gig hard drive. This keeps happening just often enough maybe once a month or so then I have to listen to my wife go on again about what a POS Tablo is. She’s beginning to convince me.
Is it just one recording or several? Have you go to Tablo Settings>Troubleshooting>Audio Compatibility and turned it on or off. This is an issue specifically with Roku app.
It happens randomly, maybe one or twice a month. Other recordings are ok. If you play back for about 15 to 20 minutes, the audio which is about 30 seconds ahead, starts to stutter and eventually the video stutters. As I said, the iPad app just refuses to play the file. Play back on Roku (wired internet connection) starts out normally and then degrades.

This isn’t a reception issue, trust me. As I described, I start playing from the start, a currently recoding program. Everything is fine for about 10 minutes or so and then the audio takes off with people taking faster than the video. Video is fine. Eventually audio gets atleast 30 seconds ahead. After about 15 minutes or so, the video starts to degrade. A lot of stuttering of both audio and video. Not a Roku problem. Not a connection problem. IMO it’s a Tablo problem screwing up during recording. The playback experience for this file is consistent after restarting the Tablo.
It really is a reception issue. I found that out a while ago. I have a 4th generation and a legacy Tablos. I have duplicate recordings of some shows. One show had the audio problem all through the recording on the 4th Gen. The same recording on the legacy Tablo had the audio problem intermittently. Do not understand but it happens occasionally. My wife did not like the option of mute and closed caption. All technology issues are my fault. Fortunately it has only happened a few times.
