After Market antenna?

From the Televes website (Dinova BOSS antenna) …

  • BOSS-Tech devices for each band integrated: the antenna adapts, independently for VHF and UHF bands, automatically and dynamically their gain to the signal conditions at the time, ensuring an optimum level of amplification and that the optimum signal is delivered at all times. It also avoids overload when there is interference present or enhanced conditions. *

In essence, it is an analog RF amplifier that can do automatic gain compensation for each “band” (VHF and UHF) independently. Not “each channel” within those bands.

However, I am confused by the cited review referring to the “DigiNova BOSS”. The Televes website has always referred to this antenna as the “Dinova BOSS”. It may just be a packaging/ marketing thing. Might also be something new. Not sure.

I will say their “entry level” digital processing tech called the Smartkom is $200, so I would be surprised if Televes is including this tech in an antenna priced a bit over $100. Specifically, this tech converts the analog RF signal to digital and applies digital filters to isolate each RF channel in order to be able to increase/decrease gain digitally. I suppose it is possible.

Edit: The “Diginova BOSS” appears to be an older variant of the “Dinova BOSS”. If this is true, the preamp in this antenna does in fact operate on both the UHF and VHF bands separately (eg separate gain compensation on the entire VHF range, and on the entire UHF range). However, it does not go further to operate on the individual RF channels within these 2 groups. This functionality requires the digital processing of either the Smartkom or the Avantx.

Here’s a picture of what the Televes digital filtering can do with a bunch of different transmitters (RF channels) coming in from the antenna at different levels:

This is from my Televes Avantx output as measured by my RF meter.RF channel 10 is highlighted in blue, but there are 5 other channels also shown on the chart. y-axis is level.
