It’s totally amazing how I have been unable to get Tablo past 2.2.2 for weeks, even support wasn’t able to remote in to look at the issue. They tried to push 2.2.7 beta suggesting it might download and update to that, nope. No joy. Then Friday I lost all ability to access my Tablo from my computers. In fact I lost the ability to access this site! I wasn’t able to access anything Tablo, not the device, not their site or this forum.
I could only access my Tablo via my FireTV stick. Interesting, eh?
Then tonight just for kicks, after rebooting and reconfiguring my router a dozen different times in the last 2 or 3 days since everyone always says “well reboot your router, that will fix it” even though the router is fine for everything else, including video streaming, VPN and so on, I decided to try the update to 2.2.7 one more time via the FireTV stick since that is the one and only thing that could access my Tablo device. WOW, it worked!
And guess what - after my Tablo updated to 2.2.7 and it rebooted, MAGICALLY, and I mean that- my computer could once again access Tablo - and guess what else - without doing a PC reboot, without closing and opening my browsers, and without a ROUTER REBOOT, I can access the Tablo forums again.
Hmmmm, so why would the Tablo device getting to 2.2.7 magically make all things Tablo work for my computer and network here?
No router reboot, no computer reboot, no browser restart - simply updating Tablo from 2.2.2 to 2.2.7 and the Tablo rebooting - the rain stopped and the clouds went away.
So if the router wasn’t blocking my access to the device, and my router wasn’t blocking my access to my.tablotv.com and the community.tablo.com - what was?
If I didn’t reboot the router and suddenly things started working - in IT and network administration one asks, what changed, what’s different - I’ll tell ya - Tablo got it’s update to 2.2.7 from 2.2.2. That’s all. Nothing else changed.
So why after weeks of trying and support even giving up unable to remote into my Tablo did it suddenly decide to update to 2.2.7 and allow me to access things again? Yeah, even this web site was down until I updated my Tablo!!!
WEIRD and don’t even think of blaming my router! It wasn’t a router reboot that resolved this.
I’ve got a similar situation but it’s weird - I can access via Roku and TabloExporter but the PC/iPad interface is not working and I’m getting an authentication error. I’m still on 2.2.2. Problem started this past weekend when I reconfigured my home setup and had to unplug and reattach all of my devices (router, Tablo, NAS, …etc.). I’m about to start the reboot of everything to see if that fixes it tonight. I’ve had conflicts with the NAS in the past so I think I need to attach the Tablo first and then attach the NAS for the right reservations to be made.
Thanks tablotv, Reading this blog has helped a lot, I guess I should do it more often. I read where recording in 1080 mode is causing a lot of the problems and that reminded me that after rebooting my tablo and router several times , I noticed that tablo had changed from 720 recording to 1080 recording, so I changed it back to 720. Now I can see my recordings and play them back. Except for the ones that were recorded after the reboot and before I noticed the 1080/720 change. All y’all out there try checking your recording mode.
That said, I am still having problems with the tv menu not showing, but I do have TV guide to fix that! Hope we get the fixes soon! Bobmctx
@bobmctx - When you say the ‘TV menu not showing’… What app is this on? Do you have blank spaces or is it not loading? Some clarification on your issue would help us get this resolved for you.
The tv menu on my roku app! The channel numbers show, but there is no program information. I have to look online through my TT Guide app to find what programs are on and then choose a channel.
This information is there when I use the tablo app on my iPad, just not on Roku(3). Thanks, Bobmctx
@bobmctx - One of two things could be happening… Either you’re using the Tablo legacy app or something else fishy is happening. If you touch base with support we can get you fixed up: http://support.tablotv.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Whatever you did made the problems worse. I really loved Tablo but I haven’t been able to use it lately. I was excited about the update but it didn’t help at all. Tablo and Roku are worse than ever. Is there any way to reset my tablo to get rid of the last two updates?
Awful. The update made things worse.
@jeff3883 - Sorry to hear that. I would suggest touching base with support so we can understand what’s happening with your Tablo: http://bit.ly/1w8BrBw
I just purchased a Roku 4 and tested this and it is still not working. PLEASE do what you can. Other than this issue I LOVE my Tablo. But this does make viewing VERY frustrating.
Tonyd, the issues should be fixed now. What issues are you seeing?
I’m using a Roku 4, 3, and 2 (2015).
What’s not working for you?
I can’t tell by your reply.
So what’s not working?
My Tablo and Roku 4 (and Roku 3s) are working perfectly now, and have since Roku made it’s firmware update a couple of months ago. While I’m sure you are having some issues (or you wouldn’t be posting here), I can assure you that Tablo can indeed work very well with Roku.
